No more blonde!

So I've been thinking for the last couple of weeks that I needed a change...just a small one. And so I dyed my hair...! My hair lady calls it "chocolate topaz" and says it will pretty much be all gone in a couple of months, so I can go back to blonde for the wedding, but for the time being, I'm a brunette!

to see...or not to see?

So I was originally considering getting contacts next month when I go for my annual vision appointment, so that I could see everyone at the wedding...but I've never worn contacts, and I was getting nervous about doing that, so I came up with another idea...why not just wear really pretty sparkly glasses at the reception so that I know who everyone is that is coming up and talking to me?? I'd like some like the ones above (these are bit pricey!) so I'm gonna keep looking, but what does everyone think??

No breaker for you...

Here's another installment of "living with a boy" and I'm finding out that for the last 29 years, there's no way that David was actually capable of living without my presence, and I'm really not sure how he survived... :)

Yesterday morning, I had the space heater going in the den when David decided to iron (see he at least does that!), and I kinda had a sneaking suspicion the breaker was going to blow...and it did. With that, he turned to me with a dumbfounded expression like "what'd I break? And how are you going to fix it?" So I told him, "you need to go and flip the switch on the breaker." So off he goes. As if he knew what he was doing. But he was headed first in the wrong direction.

After I corrected him and sent him to the closet in the spare bedroom, I waited for about 3 minutes. Nothing. No heater. No noise at all coming from the spare bedroom closet. I knew what was probably going on. David's not real great with well, anything like this, so I had a feeling he was standing in front of the breaker box, confused, wanting to fix this, but instead, stood there trying to figure out what to do.

After a few minutes, and still nothing, he walks back into the den all proud and smiling. "Is it back on yet?" he asks. Uh, no. So I go look at it, and come to find out, he hadn't switched anything. I can see the switch that needs to be flipped, plain as day (it actually turns red, bright red, to alert us which one is off).

I showed him this, flipped the switch, and asked what he had done to think that the power would be back on. To which he replied, "oh nothing. I just wanted you to come and do it."

Christmas at the Phi Mu

I had to go over to the Phi Mu house on Saturday for officer training, and thought I'd take some pictures of the Christmas decorations...Penny Cupp hired her interior decorator from Atlanta to come in and do these decorations...and all I have to say is wow. (the girls call the one in the foyer the "showgirl tree") It's a little much, but it really is pretty in person.

Living with a boy...part two...

So I've decided I'm going to write a book...and I'm going to call it "Living with a boy" and pretty much give details on the stupid crap I have to learn to adjust to...David is aware that he is the topic of such book, and I will allow him to read it only when it's done and he will then have to acknowledge that he can be an idiot... :) I will begin this book right here on the blog (see "Living with a boy" a post I did earlier for what may be the first chapter of the book...)

So with that in mind, here's the latest "living with a boy" entry:

I asked David to rake the leaves from the flower bed cause they were getting pretty piled up behind the skimpy little bushes and looking kinda trashy. I hate leaves. And I hate them more so when they are making my cute little house look trashy.

So with his OU work gloves on, a couple of trash bags, and the rake, he went to work.

I went outside to check on his progress at one point, and noticed that he was not using the rake.

He was picking up the leaves from behind the bush. Individually. And then putting them into the trash bag.

When I inquired of his odd behavior, he replied, "I tried it with the rake. But it wasn't getting them all."

Okay. Fair enough. I guess.

I then grabbed the rake, stuck it behind the little bush, and pulled out the entire pile of leaves in one action.

With a look of complete surprise and confusion at the same time, he then said, "Oh! That's how you get them?"

I don't want to know how he had used the rake before I got out there...

Fo Real Cards...

Okay...here's my actual Christmas cards...

with my own poem on the inside:

At this time of year
it is evidently clear
our Christmas wish list to Santa
will fall on deaf ears.

So with that in mind
you may be hard pressed to find
either one of us
without a couple of cold beers.

Here's to getting what you want this Christmas.

Coming soon (hopefully! once I can get them ordered and get them here first!) to a mailbox near you...

Christmas cards?

Considering one of these for a Christmas card... :)
I woke from a nap the other day to find the kitties on the bed next to me like this. Couldn't help it...had to take a picture :)
