One Big Burger

David has become quite the grill master.

We have had the new grill since Christmas (thanks, Mom!), but he wasn't allowed to use it until he bought a cover for it. I knew I would wind up cleaning it when it got all gross from being outside, without a cover.

So he bought a cover.

And has been grilling now for a week.

The first night, chicken. Simple enough. He asks me, "how long do you cook chicken?"

I answered, "until it's done."

I told him it needed to be white all the way through. That's when you know it's done.

So an hour after being on the grill, he decides that it's done.

We tried chicken again the next night. I made him take it off after about 35 minutes.

It was MUCH better this time.

So then he decided to try hamburgers.

He went to the store to get everything. And came home with 4.2 pounds of ground beef.

For two of us.

I guess the look of "what in the hell were you thinking" on my face tipped him off to the fact that he had indeed bought too much meat.

When I asked what in the hell he was thinking, he replied "I thought you used one pound of meat per hamburger patty."

Nannie

I'm just now getting to the point where it is now comforting to talk and think about Nannie. For those of you that don't know, my great-grandmother passed away April 27, just three days after my Uncle Cowboy suffered a massive heart attack and passed away at home. Needless to say, it was a rough week for us with two funerals in the family.

For almost 30 years, she remained the same sweet, full of life, spitfire of a woman, and it really is difficult to no longer have her here. Last weekend, I had to pick David up from the airport in Oklahoma City, and I thought to myself, "on the way back, we should stop by Nannie's..."

I had always planned to wear her engagement ring (now with an emerald in it for my birth month) on my wedding day. So now even though she physically won't be with us, she still kind of will be :)

Sneak peek of the centerpieces...

So my cousin Jenny calls me and tells me she has changed the centerpieces on me...but to not freak out, cause they will be awesome...apparently, they are these lanterns on about 15 of the tables. Inside the vase will be the pink and orange and lime green flowers she has chosen. And they will each be sitting on something (moss? I don't know, something like that...) On the remaining tables, she will use two of these, hung on a shepherd's hook and tied together, to create some height.

And I've given in to the tealights, so those will be surrounding these as well.

Is anyone else ready for this wedding to just hurry up and get here already??

44 days...

Things we enjoy...

• watching stupid videos on youtube. And by "stupid" I mean Backstreet Boys videos from 1999...just to prove that I do in fact know "I want it that way" by heart.

• watching Justin Timberlake on SNL on Hulu.com and claiming the man a comedic genius. Or at least just really funny.

• working in the yard together.

• going on walks throughout the neighborhood and make fun of people's yards--if you've been to Stillwater ever, you know that this can be quite entertaining with the college kids and their idea of a what makes appropriate lawn furniture...).

• trying new sushi rolls at Nagoya...well, I try them, and he says "groooooossss" with whatever I have.

• talking to Tatumbell, the kitty, and making up stories about what he's saying. For example, a simple "mew" could mean several things: "Where have you guys been all day?" to "Hey, I wouldn't mind a beer either" to "quiero ir afuera"--hey, we don't know if he's speaking spanish or english.

• thinking up kids' names. Sometimes really ridiculous ones. All I'm gonna say is: Brass Nuckolls.

• While having a perfectly usable, and beautifully set dining room table, we eat on the floor in the den. And prefer it.

• Telling anyone from out of state that we're "gonna take you guys to Eischen's!"

Chewy's cutout

So as most of you know, my brother is a Sgt. in the Marine Corps. He will be leaving soon for another tour in the Middle East, and unfortunately, this means that my baby brother will not be in attendance at the greatest wedding celebration ever... :) But I have a solution that will allow to be there, but not really...

I'll be taking this picture...

and making one of these...

Yep, gonna make a life size cutout of my brother...

The fur babies...

I couldn't help it...these are our fur babies!
